New Findings from CCR Researchers – NCI Center for Cancer Research
NCI Center for Cancer Research shared a post on LinkedIn:
“NEW FINDINGS: CCR researchers identified a protein that regulates cell differentiation in the development of mice embryos. Their finding contributes to the understanding of normal cell development, which is crucial for studying where cancer and disease may arise.

Dr. Sergio Ruiz Macias is a Stadtman Investigator in the Laboratory of Genome Integrity. His lab uses human and mouse embryonic stem cells (ESCs) as a model to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying the acquisition (somatic cell reprogramming) and maintenance of pluripotency and self-renewal.
These cell types represent a unique system to study the basis for unlimited growth and cell transformation, as well as to model disease in vitro and use them for the discovery of new drugs in specific differentiated cell types.”
