The Lancet Commission on Breast Cancer was launched highlighting several inequities in breast cancer – City Cancer Challenge

City Cancer Challenge shared a post on LinkedIn:

“By 2040, the incidence of new breast cancer cases is predicted to reach more than 3 million per year. Low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs) will be affected the most.

The Lancet Commission on Breast Cancer was launched today, highlighting several inequities in breast cancer that are at risk of worsening and can be addressed through global collaboration. Breast cancer is a prioritised cancer across all C/Can cities, and we are working with local stakeholders to improve treatment and speed up diagnosis by:

▪️ implementing management guidelines
▪️ refining patient care pathways
▪️ up-skilling healthcare workers
▪️ improving the quality of care processes
▪️ strengtehing system readiness for breast cancer medicines

Congratulations to all the authors who contributed to the report, especially Benjamin Anderson, Global Technical Lead for Breast Cancer at City Cancer Challenge, who has been involved in the development and writing of the Commission since its inception in 2020/2021.”
