UZ Leuven Radiotherapy Oncology department massively present at ESTRO 2023 congres in Vienna.

It was an incredible gathering of like-minded professionals and a platform that showcased the latest advancements and breakthroughs in the field of radiation oncology.

Together, we represented a dynamic group of 30 individuals dedicated to advancing radiation oncology and its impact on patient care. Our diverse team from UZ Leuven consisted of doctors, Radiation Therapists (RTTs), physicists, quality managers, Clinical Support Managers (CSMs), and residents.

During the congress, our team made a significant impact by presenting 5 innovative posters and delivering an impressive 20 presentations. It was a truly exhilarating experience to share our research, exchange ideas, and engage in fruitful discussions with experts from around the globe.

Our posters highlighted groundbreaking studies and novel approaches in radiation therapy, addressing crucial topics such as personalized treatment strategies, advanced imaging techniques, and emerging technologies. These posters showcased our team’s dedication to advancing patient care and improving outcomes in the fight against cancer.

Our presentations were a proof to our commitment to knowledge sharing and collaboration. We explored various aspects of radiation oncology, including the latest clinical trials, treatment planning methodologies, and advancements in radiotherapy equipment. It was an excellent opportunity to inspire and be inspired by our peers, fostering meaningful connections within the industry.

Five of us embarked on an inspiring journey by opting for train travel to Vienna. By choosing this eco-friendly mode of transportation, we aimed to contribute to the global efforts in combating climate change and reducing our carbon footprint. It was a rewarding experience that opened conversations about sustainability among our team members and generated ideas for incorporating green initiatives into our professional lives.

The ESTRO Congress in Vienna provided an enriching environment for networking and learning from some of the brightest minds in our field. It allowed us to gain valuable insights, stay up to date with the latest industry trends, and build new collaborations that will undoubtedly shape the future of radiation oncology.
