Stephen Nimer: Another important publication from Sylvester’s multiple myeloma team that will be practice changing!

Stephen Nimer, Director at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, recently shared a post by Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, on LinkedIn, adding:

“Another important publication from Sylvester’s multiple myeloma team that will be practice changing! Dr. Francesco Maura’s work continues to have a great impact, under the mentorship of Dr. Ola Landgren!
A valuable classification system and tool!”

Quoting Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center’s post:

“Researchers at Sylvester have unveiled the first individual risk prediction model for multiple myeloma. The new machine learning method could improve predictions for treatment response and prognosis.

C. Ola Landgren, M.D., Ph.D., Francesco Maura, the Sylvester research team, and collaborators created a computational model, Individual Risk Model for Myeloma (IRMMa), to determine the best treatment for each patient. This model personalizes prognoses based on tumor genomics and treatments.

‘The future of the field will have to be focused on precision medicine,’ said Dr. Landgren, who is senior author on the new publication. ‘There’s no other way forward.” Read more about IRMMa.’
