“Sometimes, you think that the best cancer research findings is those when you compare two lines of treatment for a group of cancer patients, and you find that one treatment is better than the other, so you give your recommendations that patient need to have the better drug to get the better survival.
Fortunately, this is not the main reason of cancer research, the best research is that when you investigate why some people do not get their best service? treatment? or why we can’t apply the International guidelines for some group of people?
This is why we investigated in KINDLE Egypt cohort: why didn’t many stage III lung cancer patients have their treatment according to International recommendations?
In this research we found that lung problems like COPD, lung fibrosis and chronic lung diseases caused by smoking, prevented them from surgery and radiation therapy.
Thanks for our Ministry of Health and Population of Egypt, making treatment for lung cancer completely free of any cost: chemotherapy, radiotherapy and supportive care, but the main reason for stopping treatment in many patients is bad complicated lung disease.”
