Highlights from SNO 2024
The 29th Annual Meeting of the Society for Neuro-Oncology (SNO) recently took place in Houston, Texas from November 21-24, 2024.
As the largest neuro-oncology conference in the world, the SNO Annual Meeting draws over 2,600 researchers and clinician scientists from more than 40 countries.
Covering all aspects of neuro-oncology, SNO2024 served as a premier platform for sharing knowledge and exploring the future of neuro-oncology research and treatment.
The theme of SNO2024, ‘The Hallmarks of Brain Cancer,’ featured an exceptional lineup of speakers and panelists, who presented cutting-edge insights into the field.
Doctors and Professionals shared their insights on social media:
“Best part of SNO annual meeting?
Seeing friends and colleagues from all across the country!”
“Excited to share work from our teams using spatial transcriptomic approaches to understand the impact of neuropathology on local tissue environments in the human brain this afternoon at SNO2024.”
“Sahm Lab presenting exciting developments in rapid (even intraoperative!) molecular diagnostics using Oxford Nanopore, platform-agnostic methylation classification and comprehensive spatial profiling of CNS tumours at SNO2024.”
“Grateful to have the opportunity to share our team’s research, led by my wonderful mentor Jen Connelly.”
“Presenting Alpheus CV101 results at SNO2024. This was a phase 1 trial proving safety and also showing prolonged survival in people with recurrent high grade glioma!”
“Having a great time in Houston with BratLab at Society of Neurooncology meeting with stars Ling-Kai and Puja, missing Jason Li and Bo for the best reason ever, the birth of their beautiful son Samuel.”
“Day 2 of Cancer Neuroscience at SNO2024, It’s absolutely amazing to see how fast the field and community grow, with many new collaborations and ideas!”
“What a privilege being one of the PI of the STELLAR study showing in Plenary session the major clinical benefit in IDHmut grade 3 astrocytoma following eflornitine plus lomustine, a new hope for this subset of patients.”
“Back from hiatus to shout out A. Basit Khan for his great presentation at SNO2024 on CNS lymphoma. Lots of non-lymphomatous pathology to keep an eye out for too. Also bonkers how small the JHU Alumni Association world is especially in medicine, especially in neuro fields!“
“Wonderful Cancer Neuroscience talks from the rising stars, Richard Drexler and Ekin Reyhan.”
“Back in Houston pt. 2!! This time, I had the pleasure to present a poster on Ultra-Rapid ddPCR with my co-first author Emilia Bianchini at SNO 2024. A very fun weekend!”
“Had a great chat with Theodore from Caris Life Sciences at SNO2024! Their work on whole exome/transcriptome sequencing and pushing precision oncology forward is truly exciting. Looking forward to seeing more!”
“Great to hear Douglas Hanahan give the Keynote talk at SNO2024.”
“Our stellar neurosurgery resident, Mark Youngblood, delivered a terrific presentation on localized chemotherapy in aggressive meningioma yesterday!”
“Tour de force presentation by my former mentor Michelle Monje for the Abhijit Guha Award and Lecture!”
“Bummed to leave SNO2024 a little early, but UK calls! Leaving motivated and focused, great to participate in many mentoring sessions, and connect with friends, colleagues, and patients. Also great to see academic grandchildren.
See you all in Hawaii if not before!”
“Spent 5 incredible days in Houston – emotional, informative, inspiring.
Exciting new collaborations on microMESH, far beyond glioblastoma. Lectures and discussions at SNO2024 were incredibly enriching.
A special thanks to Cynthia and Mike at Rice University Bioengineering.”
