Melissa S. Dillmon is running for the Board of Directors of ASCO
Melissa S. Dillmon is a candidate for a position on the Board of Directors for ASCO.
The ASCO Nominating Committee has selected 13 distinguished members as candidates for leadership positions within the Society.
ASCO encourages all eligible members to vote for the new leaders of the Society.
Eligible members include those holding a Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathy, Doctor of Philosophy, Doctor of Pharmacy, Doctor of Medical Science, Doctor of Nursing Science, Doctor of Nursing Practice, or an equivalent doctoral-level degree recognized by the Society and the Association, and who are in good standing as of October 14, 2024. Voting in the ASCO Election will earn eligible members a FASCO point.
The voting period ends on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 3:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. All ballots, whether submitted online or by paper, must be received by this deadline.

Melissa S. Dillmon, MD, FASCO is a Medical Oncologist and the Department Chair of Oncology at Harbin Clinic Hematology/Oncology, a position she has held since 2004.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Dillmon has made contributions to medical education, having served as a Faculty Instructor for the EPEC Conference on End-of-Life Care in 2003.
Earlier in her career, she gained valuable research experience as an Assistant in the Department of Neurosonology at Wake Forest University (1996-1997) and in the Department of Immunology at the University of Tennessee (Summer 1992).
Education
Melissa S. Dillmon completed her Fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the University of Alabama-Birmingham from 2002 to 2004, after finishing her Residency in Internal Medicine there from 2000 to 2002.
Dr. Dillmon also completed her Internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Alabama-Birmingham in 1999-2000.
She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree with honors from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in 1999. Before pursuing medicine, she graduated summa cum laude from Converse College in Spartanburg, SC, with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Biology in 1995.
