Highlights from JLCS24 by Stephen Liu
The 65th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Lung Cancer Society was held at PACIFICO Yokohama from October 31st- November 2nd 2024.
It brought together leading experts in the field to address the urgent challenges of lung cancer treatment and research.
Under the theme “Combining Our Strengths to Conquer Lung Cancer,” the conference fostered collaboration and dialogue among clinicians, researchers, and advocates.
President Yuichiro Ohe, M.D., Ph.D., Chief of the Department of Thoracic Oncology and Deputy Director of the National Cancer Center Hospital, led discussions on innovative therapies, early detection strategies, and the importance of multidisciplinary approaches.
The event served as a vital platform for sharing groundbreaking research and enhancing collective efforts to improve patient outcomes in lung cancer care.
Stephen Liu, Director of Thoracic Oncology and Head of Developmental Therapeutics at the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, shared his insights about JLCS24 on social media:
Highlights some encouraging advances at surgical meetings
“Cecilia Pompili at the podium at JLCS24 discussing DEI and the IASLC member survey. Highlights some encouraging advances at surgical meetings but stresses ongoing impact of gender bias in surgery and medicine. A great talk as always!”
Some great discussions at JLCS24
“Full day at JLCS24 with some great discussions alongside Myung-Ju Ahn and Yasushi Goto. The live translation of the sessions is remarkable, very accurate, immensely helpful.”
Yuki Shinno on treatment sequencing for ALK NSCLC at JLCS24
“Yuki Shinno walks us through treatment sequencing for ALK NSCLC at JLCS24. Early choices will influence eventual resistance mechanisms. Longer PFS is important but the calculus involves other variables including QoL and toxicity.”
Myung-Ju Ahn discusses relapsed SCLC at JLCS24
“Myung-Ju Ahn discusses relapsed SCLC at JLCS24 with a nice summary table of ADCs being explored and DLL3 bispecifics. Rapidly evolving space.”
A memorable JLCS24 in Yokohama
“A memorable JLCS24 in Yokohama – great science, contrasting perspectives, and lots of important connections. Glad to see so many colleagues in Japan.”
Daniel Tan at the closing of JLCS24
“Daniel Tan at the closing JLCS24 Presidential discusses the perioperative space for NSCLC and the CheckMate 77T Japanese subset data.”
