Balazs Halmos, Associate Director for Clinical Science at Montefiore Einstein Cancer Center, shared a post by NCI Cancer Stats on LinkedIn:
“4.1% annual drop in lung cancer deaths!
- smoking cessation
- early detection
- better diagnostic tools
- safer surgery/radiotherapy
- biomarkers
- improved systemic treatment
- better supportive care
- stronger advocacy
If we keep this pace (or speed up) – can u imagine what might happen?”
Quoting NCI Cancer Stats’s post:
“The rate of new Lung Cancer cases fell by 2.0% each year from 2010-2019 and the death rate fell by 4.1% each year from 2011-2020. 2020 data is excluded from trend line because of COVID-19 healthcare disruptions. See our Cancer Stat Facts sheet to learn more.”
