Françoise Meunier: The need to keep supporting cancer survivors after they are cured
Françoise Meunier posted the following on LinkedIn:
“Digestive cancers were once considered a concern mainly for older adults, but recent data reveals in early-onset cases.
Over the past 30 years, colorectal, gastric, pancreatic, and biliary tract cancers have significantly increased in younger populations, signalling the need for greater awareness and proactive health measures.
Through my European Initiative on Ending Discrimination against Cancer Survivors, I endorse ENTERO 2024, an International Conference addressing these issues.
During the event, I will speak about the need to keep supporting cancer survivors after they are cured.
I will call for legislation on the right to be forgotten to be adopted throughout the EU to protect them from financial discrimination.
This is of particular importance considering that many digestive cancer survivors are young and thus likely to seek a mortgage or loan after battling cancer in the hope of rebuilding their lives and realising their personal and professional aspirations.
Ensuring their cancer history does not stand in the way in crucial.
