Phuongthao D. Le, Assistant Professor at Boston University School of Public Health, shared on LinkedIn:
“Humbled and inspired to be among colleagues and friends last week at the World Cancer Congress 2024 in Geneva!
Some of my highlights:
1. Partipated in the WHO initiative ‘Co-creating priorities for Cancer 2023 with people affected by cancer and emergent leaders’.
2. Presented on our study piloting a stress management mobile app among cancer patients and caregivers in Viet Nam as part of the digital session ‘Supportive Care: Co-creating Resources for Sustainability and Scaling,’ moderated Mishka Kohli Cira. The session also included presentations from Carolyn Taylor and Anna Cabanes.
3. Chaired a session on ‘Exemplar Applications of Implementation Science for Global Cancer Control and Prevention Research,’ with presentations from Anne Rositch, Laura Balis, Karen Yeates, and Donna Shelley.
4. Presented on behalf of our team, which includes Carolyn Taylor, HUONG TRAN, and Ophira Ginsburg, in a rapid fire session about our pilot study of the Global Focus on Cancer ‘Stronger Together’ peer support model in Viet Nam.
5. Attended many, many interesting and inspiring sessions on topics and projects such as: WHO, Cervical Cancer Elimination Initiative, policy advocacy strategies at the UN High-Level Meeting on NCDs, integrated approaches for women’s cancers, global review of national cancer control plans, smoking cessation as part of cancer treatment, Lancet Commission report on ‘Women power, and cancer’, and digital health solutions in the cancer care continuum.
Looking forward to continued and new collaborations to advance global cancer control in the years ahead!”
