Cancer survivors are at a significant risk of CVD-related mortality
Bogda Koczwara shared a post on X about recent paper by Huan Shin et al. titled “Cardiovascular mortality in people with cancer compared to the general population: A systematic review and meta-analysis” published in Cancer Medicine.

“Our SR and metaanalysis of CVD mortality after cancer in adult pts – 136 studies over past 23 years showing increased risk of CVD mortality (overall SMR indicating 55% increase) with the magnitude varying by cancer type. Time for proactive management!”
Matt Wallen, Senior Lecturer in Clinical Exercise Physiology at Flinders University, shared this post, adding:
“Cancer survivors are at a significant risk of CVD-related mortality!
Lifestyle modification, including regular participation physical activity, is critical to reduce CVD risk.
Exercise professionals are critical members of the MDT.”
