Just like our physician colleagues, in the 1920’s, nurses also billed for the services they provided to patients.
Until the 1930’s when those in power, decided to strip nurses of their financial independence to bill and rolled nurses into the room rates of hospitals.
Effectively destroying nurses’ economic independence, placing nurses as a cost to healthcare systems, and fueling the ongoing nursing crisis that has persisted in this country for the last 100 years…
