Head and Neck Cancer Australia shared on LinkedIn:
“For Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Month, we’re giving you the facts twice a week for every week in July.
Fact 4:
The Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) causes 70% of tonsil and tongue-based cancers. This is the same virus that causes Cervical Cancer.
HPV is a very common virus, affecting 4 out of 5 people at some point in their lifetime. However, in most cases, the virus is harmless and expelled from the body.
Early detection is crucial in preventing or reducing the risk of cancer spreading or worsening. Know the signs and symptoms of HNC and make sure to have regular medical and dental check-ups.
Remember, you know your body better than anyone else. So, if you feel like something is wrong, speak with your doctor or dentist.
