“For over 25 years, Roche has had a proud presence in Georgia and throughout this quarter-century, our commitment has gone far beyond delivering medicines. We’ve continuously invested in national healthcare infrastructure, supported medical education, and worked side-by-side with local healthcare professionals.
Locally they have seen many landmark achievements, specifically their Universal Health Program, which has set a regional precedent by providing full, equitable access to oncology treatments for the entire population. And together we have successfully unlocked critical patient access in oncology, multiple sclerosis, neuroscience, and rare diseases – a proud example of public and private sectors co-creating the next generation of sustainable access models.
In my trip to Georgia I was honored to convene with City Cancer Challenge (C/Can) to reflect on how our partnership has grown from foundational funding into a global, strategic alliance recognized by the World Economic Forum.
Tbilisi has become a global blueprint for locally-led oncology reform, reducing financial barriers for patients and showing what is possible when public and private stakeholders unite with a shared purpose. A standout example of this is Todua Clinic, one of the country’s leading private oncology institutions, which through its active participation with City Cancer Challenge, has contributed to several system-strengthening activities aimed at improving the quality, safety, and coordination of cancer care.
My time there was a real reminder that when health is treated as an economic investment rather than an expense, sustainable access isn’t just a goal p it becomes the baseline.
