The ALSF Young Investigator Grant supports mentored childhood cancer research by postdoctoral fellows, clinical fellows and instructors. It combines research funding with career development to prepare investigators for independent pediatric oncology careers.
Eligibility Criteria
- Based at a nonprofit institution in the U.S. or Canada; U.S. citizenship is not required.
- Hold an MD, PhD, MD/PhD or equivalent; rank must not exceed Instructor.
- Accredited clinical fellows qualify during training and their first three Instructor years.
- Other applicants must meet degree-date limits: January 2019 onward for MD/MD-PhD; January 2022 onward for PhD.
- Commit at least 75% protected nonclinical research time.
- Have a mentor or co-mentor with pediatric cancer expertise and a training plan.
- Must not hold NIH R, P, F or K awards; institutional training awards are permitted. alexslemonade.org
Funding Details
- Up to $180,000 over three years, capped at $60,000 annually.
- Direct costs only; no indirect costs.
