The Advanced Development and Validation of Emerging Technologies for Basic and Clinical Cancer Research (R33 Clinical Trial Not Allowed) opportunity from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) supports further development and rigorous technical validation of emerging technologies that provide new or improved capabilities for molecular or cellular characterization of cancer or for handling and quality control of biospecimens used in basic, clinical, or epidemiological cancer research.

The program is intended for technologies that have progressed beyond initial proof-of-concept and require further development and validation before broader use.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Public and private institutions of higher education are eligible.
  • Nonprofit organizations are eligible.
  • Small businesses and other for-profit organizations are eligible.
  • State, county, city or township, and special district governments are eligible.
  • Federally recognized Native American tribal governments and other eligible tribal organizations may apply.
  • Foreign organizations are eligible to apply.
  • Non-domestic components of U.S. organizations and foreign components are permitted under the opportunity.
