The TLC Grant supports collaborative and interdisciplinary pilot cancer research between two members of the American Cancer Society (ACS) scientific ecosystem. The goal is to fund innovative, cross-disciplinary partnerships to test new ideas along the cancer research continuum.
Eligibility
- Both co-PIs must be TheoryLab members with a full-time faculty position and a doctorate (MD, PhD, or equivalent)
- Must be current/former ACS grantees (e.g., RSG, MRSG, CSDG, IRG, IDG, PF, or Training Grants)
- Co-PIs may be from the same institution but must be in different departments/disciplines
- Current TLC grantees are not eligible, but former grantees may apply with a different project
Budget and Term
- Total award: 61,200 USD for 1 year
- Includes 600 USD travel per PI and 60,000 USD for project work (split at PIs’ discretion)
- No indirect costs allowed
- If one PI is an ACS scientist (Population or Health Equity Science) or based at a federal/industry site, only 40,600 USD total is allowed
Research Scope
- Project must be collaborative and interdisciplinary
- May cover any area of cancer research
- Should be distinct from prior collaborations if involving former collaborators
Timeline
- May 17, 2024 – Deadline to submit project summary and co-PI info on TheoryLab
- May 21, 2024 – Invitation to submit full proposal
- July 15, 2024 – Application deadline via ProposalCentral
- September 2024 – Peer review
- November 2024 – Notification of results
- January 1, 2025 – Grant start date
Expectations
- Grantees must present project outcomes ~6 months post-completion in a TheoryLab community virtual session
- Engage with TheoryLab community through posts and updates
