The Division of Radiation Oncology at the University of Calgary is inviting applications for at least two Radiation Oncology Fellowship positions commencing July 1, 2026. These one-year fellowships offer a unique opportunity for advanced clinical and research training in a state-of-the-art cancer care and academic setting.
Fellowship Focus Areas:
Fellows will have the opportunity to focus their clinical and research activities in one or more of the following areas:
- MR-Linac guided radiotherapy
- Prostate and gynecologic brachytherapy (AFC-accredited program with DRCPSC diploma)
- Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT)
- Head and Neck cancers
- Patient-reported outcomes and health services research
- Other areas of interest may be considered based on the applicant’s clinical or research goals
Designated Opportunity:
One fellowship position will be dedicated to the PROSE (Person-Centered Radiation Oncology Service Enhancement) initiative—an innovative departmental program aimed at integrating patient-reported outcomes into routine cancer care.
Institutional Environment:
The newly opened Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre is one of Canada’s most advanced integrated cancer care, academic, and research facilities, serving Calgary and Southern Alberta.
Key infrastructure includes:
- 10 Linear Accelerators and 2 MR-Linacs
- 2 dedicated MRI units for simulation and brachytherapy
- CT and PET-CT simulators, orthovoltage unit
- Strong clinical programs in MR-guided therapy, brachytherapy (prostate and gynecologic), SBRT, TBI, pediatric radiotherapy, and SRS
- Collaboration with the Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute for fellows interested in translational research
Academic and Research Opportunities:
- These fellowships are designed to support fellows in gaining:
- Advanced clinical expertise in high-tech radiotherapy
- Hands-on experience in patient-centered care integration
- Exposure to translational, health services, or clinical research
- Opportunities for publication and academic productivity
- For eligible applicants, completion of the AFC Diploma in Brachytherapy (DRCPSC)
Eligibility Requirements:
- Completion of specialty training in Radiation Oncology
- Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA)
- Preference given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, in accordance with immigration guidelines
- Strong preference for candidates who submit recent English Language Proficiency test results (within the last 18 months), if required by CPSA
