
Radiation Oncology Lung & Prostate Cancer Clinical Research Fellowship
The Division of Radiation Oncology, Department of Oncology at McMaster University offers a 1-2 year Clinical Research Fellowship in Radiation Oncology focused on lung and prostate cancer. This fellowship provides comprehensive clinical training and research opportunities in advanced radiotherapy technologies and biological approaches. Fellows will gain experience in the clinical application of IMRT, VMAT, and Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT) for lung and prostate cancers and engage in translational early-phase clinical trials and biomarker research.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Field of Study: Fellowship research projects include clinical trial design and translational radiation biology, emphasizing early-phase trials with novel sensitizing agents and biomarker studies.
- Clinical Training: Hands-on experience in advanced radiotherapy techniques within the Juravinski Cancer Centre, a major regional oncology center serving Central South West Ontario with approximately 5,000 new cancer patients annually.
- Academic Opportunities:
- Enrollment option in the Graduate Diploma in Clinical Epidemiology (GDCE) through McMaster’s Faculty of Health Sciences.
- Two-year fellows may pursue a Master’s degree in Health Research Methodology, Health Policy, Health Science Education, or Medical Sciences.
- Training in collaboration with Ontario Clinical Oncology Group (OCOG) and access to ongoing clinical trials.
- Citizenship: Canadian citizens and permanent residents are prioritized. Applicants must declare citizenship status. International applicants with completed Radiation Oncology residency and eligible for an educational license, work permit, and visa in Ontario may apply.
