The Windsor Fellowship–Prostate Cancer UK Internship Programme 2026/27 aims to support the next generation of Black researchers in prostate cancer research by providing paid summer research placements in UK laboratories.
The programme will fund 8-week placements in July–August 2027 for eligible Black and mixed-Black heritage undergraduates and recent graduates interested in pursuing postgraduate study and careers in prostate cancer research. The current phase invites UK prostate cancer researchers to apply to host an intern, with host applications closing on August 28, 2026.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Host applications must be submitted by two lead applicants: a lead applicant and a joint-lead applicant
- At least one lead applicant must be an established researcher leading a wet or dry laboratory group at a UK university or research institution, with prostate cancer research as a primary focus
- At least one lead applicant must hold a contracted position at the host institution until at least three months after the internship and be available to host an intern for eight weeks between July and August 2027
- The other lead applicant must have at least one year of postdoctoral experience by the start of the internship
- Prostate Cancer UK Career Acceleration Fellows are encouraged to apply with their primary mentor as a lead or joint-lead applicant
Funding Details:
- Internship duration: 8 weeks.
- Interns will receive a stipend covering the real Living Wage for 35 hours per week.
- Outside London: £13.45 per hour.
- London: £14.80 per hour.
- Each successful host will receive £600 toward research consumables for the 8-week project.
- Hosts receive funds for eligible salaries, research consumables, core equipment/services/research facilities, etc.
- Eligible interns may also apply for relocation costs

- Host application review and results: September 2026.
- Intern applications open: October 2026, exact date to be confirmed.
- Intern application deadline: November 2026, exact date to be confirmed.
