The FY26 Pancreatic Cancer Research Program Focused Pilot Award supports innovative and impactful research addressing supportive care, quality of life, and survivorship for people affected by pancreatic cancer.
Projects should generate robust preliminary data that can serve as the foundation for future clinical or real-world research. Preliminary data are permitted but not required. Observational clinical studies and secondary analyses of existing clinical-trial data are allowed, but the award does not support clinical trials or preclinical animal studies.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Investigators at any career level may serve as Principal Investigator.
- Eligible organizations include nonprofit and for-profit organizations, academic and medical institutions, public or private entities, and eligible U.S. Department of War organizations.
- There are no restrictions based on nationality, citizenship, or ethnicity.
- Each investigator may be named as PI on only one FY26 Pancreatic Cancer Research Program Focused Pilot Award application.
- Cost sharing or matching funds are not required.
- The project must address the designated focus area of supportive care, quality of life, and survivorship in pancreatic cancer.
- Applicant organizations must maintain active registrations with SAM.gov, eBRAP, and Grants.gov, as applicable.
- Proposed projects must include a testable hypothesis supported by a strong scientific rationale.
Funding Details:
- Each award may provide up to USD 300,000 in total costs.
- The maximum project period is two years.
- Approximately USD 1.2 million is expected to support around four awards.
- Both direct and indirect costs must be included within the USD 300,000 total-cost limit.
Deadline:
- Required pre-application Letter of Intent deadline: September 16, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
- Full application deadline: October 7, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time.
- Application verification period ends: October 13, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
- Peer review: December 2026.
- Programmatic review: January 2027.
- Awards are expected to be issued no later than September 30, 2027.

- The application process requires a one-page Letter of Intent through eBRAP followed by a full application; the LOI is mandatory but is used for planning purposes and is not competitively screened.
- Applicants do not need to wait for an invitation after submitting the LOI and are encouraged to prepare the pre-application and full application concurrently.
- Appropriate projects may include behavioral research, symptom-management approaches, nutritional strategies, educational interventions, and studies examining quality of life, decision-making, cognitive function, or mental health outcomes.
- The full application requires a five-page Project Narrative, technical and lay abstracts, Statement of Work, Innovation Statement, Impact Statement, budget, biosketches, current and pending support, and relevant supporting documentation.
