The Conquer Cancer Long-term International Fellowship provides early-career oncologists from low- and middle-income countries with advanced clinical and research training intended to strengthen cancer care in their home countries.
Fellows receive up to six months of in-person training with an expert mentor at a host institution in the United States, Canada, or Europe. After returning to their home institution, they continue their research project through six or up to 12 months of virtual mentorship and collaboration. Applicants may select a total fellowship duration of either 12 or 18 months.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must be physicians holding an MD, DO, or international equivalent.
- Applicants must have completed an oncology subspecialty training program, such as a hematology-oncology fellowship, radiation oncology residency, or equivalent training.
- Applicants must be citizens of a country classified by the World Bank as low-income, lower-middle-income, or upper-middle-income.
- Applicants must have fewer than 10 years of experience in oncology.
- Applicants must not have received more than one year of previous training in the United States, Canada, or Europe.
- Applicants must be affiliated with a home institution located in an eligible low- or middle-income country.
- The home institution must be a registered nonprofit organization with a charitable purpose or a government agency.
- Applicants must have an established relationship with an ASCO-member mentor employed by a qualified institution in the United States, Canada, or Europe.
- The host institution must have sufficient infrastructure to support the proposed fellowship activities.
- Applicants must not be based at the proposed host institution when the application is submitted.
- Fellows must commit to returning to their home country after completing the in-person component.

Funding Details:
- The fellowship provides USD 60,000 for either a 12-month or 18-month program.
- Funding is paid to the recipient’s home institution in two equal instalments.
- Any costs exceeding USD 60,000 are the responsibility of the home institution.
- Two fellowships are expected to be awarded for the 2027 cycle.
- Additional fellowships may be offered if further funding becomes available.
- Funding supports in-person clinical and research training, continued research at the home institution, and virtual collaboration with the host mentor. (ASCO)

- The Conquer Cancer webpage lists the application deadline as January 29, 2027.
- The official application portal closes on January 28, 2027, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Applicants should submit by the portal’s displayed deadline.
- Award term: July 1, 2027–December 31, 2028.
- The official webpage currently lists an award-notification date of April 30, 2026, which predates the application deadline. Applicants should confirm the correct notification date directly with Conquer Cancer.
