
Radiation Oncology Clinical Research Genitourinary Fellowship
The Clinical Research Fellowship in Genitourinary Radiation Oncology at the Juravinski Cancer Centre, McMaster University, is a 1–2 year opportunity designed to provide advanced training in clinical and translational research as well as state-of-the-art radiation therapy for genitourinary malignancies. The fellowship emphasizes innovative treatment approaches such as Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT) and Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT), in addition to fostering research in radiation biology and clinical trial design.
Eligibility Criteria:
Field of Study:
Genitourinary fellowship focuses on the management of genitourinary cancers (e.g., prostate, bladder, kidney) and includes training in:

VMAT and SBRT applications for genitourinary tumors

Clinical trial design and implementation
-
Translational research involving radiation sensitizers and biomarker development
-
Early-phase clinical trials in collaboration with the Ontario Clinical Oncology Group (OCOG)
Research Focus:
Fellows will receive structured training in scientific research, with potential areas including:

Clinical trials and protocol development

Translational radiation biology studies
-
Health services research and technology evaluation in radiation oncology
Institutional Setting:
The Juravinski Cancer Centre provides radiation oncology services to a large population across Central South West Ontario, managing approximately 5,000 new cancer cases annually. The centre is a leader in clinical trial accrual and is actively involved in multicenter cooperative group studies.
Academic Pathways:
1-Year Fellowship:
Fellows may enroll in the Graduate Diploma in Clinical Epidemiology (GDCE), part of McMaster’s internationally recognized Health Research Methodology (HRM) graduate programs.

Citizenship:
Canadian citizens and permanent residents will be given priority. International applicants who have completed formal Radiation Oncology residency training and who are eligible for an educational license in Ontario, a valid work permit, and visa are also encouraged to apply.
