These fellowships provide up to £350,000 over 3–4 years for the most promising early-career postdoctoral researchers to pursue their own independent prostate cancer research goals and accelerate their career trajectories. The scheme is specifically designed to help researchers build networks beyond their home institution (ideally internationally), establish collaborations, and learn new skills to carve out their own niche and become independent leaders in prostate cancer research.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be in at least the final year of PhD and have ≤5 years’ post-doctoral experience as of October 1, 2026 (career breaks considered)
- Non-clinical researchers only (clinical researchers should contact PCUK for alternative routes)
- Host institution must be a recognised UK academic institution
- Fellowship must include a collaboration with researchers at another institution (UK or abroad); physical placements encouraged
- Applicants must identify a Primary Mentor (host) and Partnering Mentor(s) (collaborating institution) prior to submission
- Part-time at ≥75% FTE is permitted
Funding Details:
- Up to £350,000 covering: Fellow’s salary, lab support staff, research consumables, collaboration/travel costs, and conference attendance
- Duration: 3–4 years
- Not eligible: equipment-only proposals, researchers based entirely outside UK, commercial organisations, proposals outside PCUK’s Research Strategy
