
Damon Runyon Physician-Scientist Training Award
The Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation is accepting applications for the 2025 Physician-Scientist Training Award, a prestigious opportunity designed to support early-career physicians who are pursuing independent careers in clinical or translational cancer research. This award helps bridge the gap between clinical training and a research career with strong mentorship and protected time.
Who is eligible?
Applicants must:

Hold an MD, DO, or MD/PhD

Be in a residency, fellowship, or early faculty position
-
Commit at least 80% of full-time professional effort to research

Be conducting research in the U.S.

Submit a detailed mentorship plan with letters of institutional and departmental support

Submit no more than one application per mentor per review cycle
Funding at a glance:

Award total: up to 460,000 USD over 4 years

Research stipend and educational allowance included

Flexible use for salary, personnel, and research costs

No indirect or overhead costs permitted

Funding starts July 1, 2026
Research focus:
