
Curebound Cure Prizes 2025: $1M Collaborative Cancer Research Challenge
Curebound invites Letters of Intent for its Cure Prizes 2025, a high-impact funding opportunity that awards up to $1,000,000 over 2–3 years for groundbreaking, collaborative, and translational cancer research with near-term clinical application. Projects must aim to significantly improve outcomes for typically fatal cancers, with an expected impact within 3–5 years.
Who is eligible?
Principal Investigators (Team Leads) must:

Hold an MD, PhD, or equivalent

Be independent researchers based at one of the following San Diego institutions:

UC San Diego (including Moores Cancer Center and UCSD Health)

Salk Institute
-
Sanford Burnham Prebys
-
Rady Children’s Hospital
-
La Jolla Institute for Immunology
-
Scripps Research
-
-
Include at least one Partner PI from a different eligible institution

Collaborations beyond San Diego may be approved upon request
Funding at a glance:

Up to 1,000,000 USD over 2–3 years
-
Max 500,000 USD in Year 1

Indirect costs capped at 30% of total budget

Allowable: PI salaries (within NIH cap), research personnel, supplies, and reagents
-
Not allowable: Travel, tuition, unrelated infrastructure, or indirects above 30%

Emphasis is placed on innovations in therapeutics, diagnostics, immunotherapy, biomarkers, genomics, and underserved populations. Proposals must be interdisciplinary and show potential for clinical translation, including trials, regulatory filings, or novel clinical applications.
