The Swedish Childhood Cancer Fund Clinical Trial Start-Up Grants provide up to SEK 400,000 to help open international phase III or IV paediatric cancer treatment trials in Sweden. The programme, called Uppstartsbidrag, also covers associated substudies.
The grants help teams complete the work needed before a trial can open, such as preparing regulatory submissions and setting up agreements. The aim is to give more children in Sweden the opportunity to participate in international trials.
Eligibility and Application Criteria
- Applicants must be physicians who work primarily in Sweden in paediatric oncology.
- The relevant Swedish care planning group must designate the applicant as the trial’s national principal investigator.
- Applicants should normally hold a doctorate. The funder allows exceptions under its qualification rules.
- The project must be an international, multicentre phase III or IV paediatric cancer treatment trial or an associated substudy.
- The relevant care planning group must review the trial and formally record its recommendation.
- The proposal should explain how opening the trial in Sweden would benefit patients, Swedish paediatric cancer research, or both.
