The FY26 Breast Cancer Research Program Clinical Research Extension Award, managed through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP), supports research that extends the value of existing breast cancer clinical studies through additional follow-up, sample analysis, biomarker validation, molecular studies, and expanded data collection.
The program is designed to recover clinically important knowledge that may otherwise be lost because of early trial termination, limited long-term follow-up, or incomplete biospecimen and data analysis. Single-PI projects may request up to $7 million, while partnered applications may request up to $8.4 million in total costs over four years.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible organizations include U.S. and foreign institutions.
- For-profit and nonprofit, public and private organizations may apply.
- There are no citizenship, nationality, or ethnicity restrictions for investigators.
- The research team must include at least two breast cancer consumer advocates.
- Consumer advocates must have been diagnosed with breast cancer and be actively involved in a breast cancer advocacy organization.
- Applicants must address at least one FY26 BCRP Overarching Challenge, unless another relevant challenge is adequately justified.
- Preliminary data are required to support the scientific rationale and feasibility of the proposed work.
