Breast Cancer Canada and the McPeak-Sirois Group are offering a national award recognizing innovative investigator-initiated breast cancer clinical trials conducted in Canada. The initiative aims to showcase clinical research leadership, meaningful innovation, patient engagement, and the contributions of Canadian research teams.
Eligibility Criteria
Investigators, research coordinators, and research nurses may nominate themselves and an eligible investigator-initiated trial conducted at their site.
Applicant sites must:
- Be clinical sites or research teams located in Canada.
- Be actively recruiting or preparing to launch an investigator-initiated breast cancer clinical trial.
- Conduct an academic or industry-sponsored trial that is not managed by industry.
- Submit a project initiated in 2024 or later.
- Be willing to provide validated trial information, including first-subject-in dates, recruitment figures, and a project abstract.
- Designate a principal research coordinator contact.
- Consent to being publicly listed on the partner organizations’ websites and to selected results being shared through communication channels.
- There is no limit to the number of eligible trials that an institution may submit.
Funding Amount
- One award of CAD 10,000
The winning investigator and institution may select one of two funding formats:
- Up to CAD 10,000 to support a designated research coordinator or nurse attending a major scientific or medical meeting, including eligible travel and registration expenses.
- A CAD 10,000 award paid directly to the research institution to support professional development, workflow efficiency, or clinical research capacity. The proposed use of institutional funding requires prior approval.

- Self-nominations opened: July 7, 2026
- Notice of decision: October 15, 2026
- Award announcement: October 23–27, 2026, with the final event date to be confirmed
- Funding start: December 31, 2026
