CIHR Team Grant for National Cancer Data and Bio-Resource Coordinating Hub 2026–2027

CIHR Team Grant for National Cancer Data and Bio-Resource Coordinating Hub 2026–2027

Due Date: 01/26/2027

The CIHR Institute of Cancer Research (CIHR-ICR) is presenting a team grant to establish a National Cancer Data and Bio-Resource Coordinating Hub. This cancer data grant aims to strengthen Canada’s oncology research data ecosystem. By facilitating data submission, discovery, and access, the Hub will support sharing of research assets, while lowering barriers to collaboration. As a means of improving Canadian research infrastructure, the Hub will help advance cancer research through access to high-quality data and bio-resources.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The Nominated Principal Applicant (NPA) must be an independent researcher affiliated with a Canadian postsecondary institution and/or its affiliated institutions
  • The NPA’s primary place of employment or appointment must be in Canada for the grant term
  • The research team must be interdisciplinary and pan-Canadian, with applicants from at least four provinces and/or territories.
  • The team must include an Early Career Researcher, a knowledge user, and at least one applicant who self-identifies as Indigenous and/or demonstrates
  • The NPA must provide a Letter of Support from the Digital Research Alliance of Canada confirming access to in-kind resources
  • The NPA and all Principal Applicants must complete the required CIHR Sex and Gender Training Modules by the full application deadline
  • Applicants must have an existing, operational data platform, repository, or digital infrastructure that will serve as the foundation for the proposed cancer-specific National Data Space
