The AGA-Caroline Craig Augustyn & Damian Augustyn Award in Digestive Cancer 2026 provides supplemental funding to early-career investigators who already hold a federal or non-federal career development award and are conducting research relevant to digestive cancer.

One investigator will receive $40,000 for one year to support research addressing the pathogenesis, prevention, diagnosis, or treatment of digestive cancers. Applications are open through September 15, 2026, with funding scheduled to begin on April 1, 2027.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must hold an MD, PhD, or equivalent degree, including MB, ChB, MBBS, or DO.
  • Applicants must hold a full-time faculty or equivalent position at an institution in the United States, Canada, or Mexico.
  • Applicants must currently hold an NIH K-series award or another federal/non-federal career development award of at least four years’ duration.
  • Applicants may not hold an R01 or equivalent award, such as a VA Merit Award.
  • AGA membership is required at the time the application is submitted.
  • Basic, translational, and clinical researchers may apply when their work is relevant to digestive cancer.
  • Physician-scientists, women, and investigators from groups underrepresented in biomedical research are strongly encouraged to apply.

Further Information
