The Society of Urologic Oncology Clinical Trials Consortium (SUO-CTC) and CG Oncology, Inc. launched this annual research fellowship to support early-career investigators developing transformational research in Non‑Muscle Invasive Bladder Cancer (NMIBC). The fellowship funds one-year basic, translational, or clinical research projects in environments that can provide strong mentorship, resources, and protected research time. Awardees are expected to submit their completed work for presentation at the SUO meeting at the AUA.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be within 6 years of completing a professional degree (MD, DO, PhD, MD‑PhD, or equivalent) or clinical training (residency/fellowship) at the time of submission.
- May hold the title of Senior Postdoctoral Fellow, Instructor, Research Associate, Assistant Professor, or equivalent.
- At the start of the grant, cannot hold the title Associate Professor or higher.
- Proposed research must focus on Non‑Muscle Invasive Bladder Cancer (NMIBC).
- Applicant must be from a U.S. or Canadian sponsoring academic, non‑profit, or governmental institution.
- If not a U.S. or Canadian citizen: must provide proof of permanent resident status or a valid work visa.
- Must have a mentor within (or approved by) the sponsoring institution; mentor must provide guidance and ensure protected time.
- Mentor must have NMIBC expertise (if primary mentor lacks substantial bladder cancer expertise, additional bladder cancer expert collaboration is strongly advised).
- May include collaborators from outside institutions; if using an outside mentor, an institutional approval letteris required.
- Applicant may not have other funding with significant scientific overlap with the proposed project.
- Only one proposal per applicant per announcement.
Funding Details:
- Two awards available: up to USD 50,000 each.
- Duration: 1 year (project must be completed within one year).
- No indirect costs (no institutional overhead).
- No capital equipment purchases allowed.
- PI salary support (including fringe) is capped at ≤10% of total budget.
- Up to USD 2,000 should be budgeted for travel to the annual SUO meeting and/or other essential study travel.
- Funds are paid to the sponsoring institution, which then disburses to the award recipient.
- Awardee must submit the completed project for presentation at the corresponding SUO meeting at the AUA.
Deadline:
- Application due: Friday, February 27, 2026, 5:00 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time.
- Award decision announced: May 2026.
- Award start: May 2026.
- Expected presentation of results: SUO Meeting at AUA (April/May 2027).
