Cancer Council ACT offers research grants supporting projects across any aspect of cancer, including prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and supportive care. The program is designed to fund research that is primarily conducted in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicants must be appropriately qualified researchers affiliated with an administering institution located in the ACT.
  • The majority of the research must be conducted in the ACT and the majority of costs must be incurred in the ACT.
  • Applicants (and staff of institutions) receiving tobacco industry funding are not eligible.
  • A Chief Investigator may submit only one application per round.
  • Chief Investigators on a current Cancer Council ACT Research Grant are ineligible to apply during the term of the grant.
  • Cancer Council ACT will not fund projects already in receipt of current funding from another source.

Funding Details:

  • Several grants may be awarded, up to a maximum of AUD 100,000 each.
  • Grant term: 12 months.
  • Overhead costs are not funded.
  • Funding cannot be used for Chief Investigator salaries, or to fund a research higher degree candidate’s stipend or fees.
  • No funding may be used for external conference attendance.
