The BCRF–AACR NextGen Grant for Transformative Cancer Research supports high-risk, high-reward cancer research led by outstanding early-career investigators. Although funded by a breast cancer foundation, the call is broadly open to transformative projects across cancer types, provided the work is truly paradigm-shifting. The Nancy E. Davidson, MD, designation recognizes leadership in breast oncology and mentorship of the next generation of cancer researchers.
Eligibility Criteria:

Early-career independent investigator (assistant professor or equivalent) at a non-profit academic or research institution

MD, PhD, or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant field

Clear evidence of high potential for leadership in cancer research (strong track record relative to career stage)

Transformative, mechanistically driven project in any area of cancer biology, translational research, or early clinical investigation

AACR membership in good standing required by the time of application

Total award: 450,000 USD

Grant term: 3 years (150,000 USD per year)

Flexible support for PI salary (if needed), trainees, consumables, sequencing/omics, computation, and proof-of-concept work
