Urologic Oncology Fellowship

The Urologic Oncology Fellowship at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is one of the oldest and most prestigious programs of its kind, established in the early 1960s. Accredited by the Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO), it provides rigorous clinical and research training to develop academic leaders in urologic oncology. Each year, five clinical fellows are trained in multidisciplinary cancer care and advanced surgical techniques within the nation’s top-ranked cancer center.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Successful completion of a Urology residency with board certification or eligibility.

  • Commitment to a career in academic or translational urologic oncology.

  • Demonstrated excellence in research or clinical performance with leadership potential.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills supported by recommendation letters.

  • Active membership in the Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO).

  • Eligible for a Texas medical license.

  • Foreign medical graduates must hold a valid ECFMG certificate and have passed all three parts of the USMLE.

Funding Details:

  • Fellowship duration: 1–2 years (clinical and/or research components).

  • Fellows may extend training to include additional research years.

    • Complex oncologic surgeries and minimally invasive techniques

    • Multidisciplinary patient management

    • Clinical, translational, and basic research, including clinical trials

  • Focus areas:
  • Fellows receive mentorship from leading faculty and may pursue independent research programs.

Deadline:

  • Interview Dates: February 24, 2026 and April 7, 2026

  • Applications must be received two weeks before the scheduled interview date.

  • Fellowship term begins in July 2026 (2026–2027 academic year).
