The Hold’em for Life Oncology Fellowship supports University of Toronto residents and clinical fellows conducting cancer research across Temerty Faculty of Medicine’s nine fully affiliated teaching hospitals. This competitive program provides salary support to protect research time and accelerate training of the next generation of oncology clinician-scientists in Ontario.
Eligibility Criteria:

Licensed MD eligible to practice in Ontario.

Registered with the University of Toronto Post MD Program as a resident or clinical fellow.

Commitment of at least 2 years in residency/clinical fellowship; within that period, ≥1 year with ≥80% protected research time.

Supervisor holds a faculty appointment at U of T’s Temerty Faculty of Medicine.

Project in oncology (e.g., medical, radiation, surgical, psychosocial oncology; imaging; pathology; related disciplines).

Renewal proposals accepted from current Fellows with supervisor support (submit one-page progress/eligibility summary).
Funding Details:

Award amount: 50,000 CAD.

Funding must be applied to trainee salary.

Funding window: July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027 (alternate start dates within the academic year considered if stated in application).
