Cure SMA Research Grants & Postdoctoral Fellowships

Cure SMA will award ~USD 750,000 across 5–6 grants for innovative SMA research. Projects may request up to USD 75,000 per year for 1–2 years (max USD 150,000 total, including up to 8% overhead). Deadline: October 3, 2025; awards by January 1, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria:

Open to principal investigators and postdoctoral fellows; postdocs must include a supervisor’s support letter.
Projects should align with SMA priorities (e.g., SMN regulation/function, SMA pathophysiology, early proof-of-concept therapeutics—especially non-SMN approaches—and development of tools/biomarkers).

Funding Details:

Up to USD 75,000 per year; up to 2 years; max USD 150,000 total (includes up to 8% overhead).
High-risk/high-reward ideas welcomed; maximum budgets typically require compelling preliminary data.

Deadline:

Proposals due: October 3, 2025 (11:59:59 pm ET).
Award notification: by January 1, 2026.
