
Advanced Development and Validation of Emerging Molecular and Cellular Analysis Technologies for Basic and Clinical Cancer Research (R33 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)
The National Cancer Institute (NCI) invites R33 grant applications to support advanced development and rigorous validation of novel molecular or cellular analysis technologies that offer transformative capabilities for cancer research, including basic biology, early detection, diagnostics, treatment, and disparities research .
Eligibility Criteria:

U.S. and foreign organizations of any type, including higher education institutions, nonprofit and for-profit entities (small businesses and others), local/state/federal governments, and tribal organizations.

Foreign components of U.S. organizations and standalone foreign organizations are eligible.

Applicant institutions must have required registrations (SAM, UEI, NCAGE if applicable, eRA Commons, Grants.gov) completed prior to submission .

PD(s)/PI(s) must have eRA Commons accounts; organizational Signing Officials require separate accounts.

Multi-PD/PI applications are allowed under NIH’s MPI policy.
Funding Details:

Estimated 10 awards in FY2026, total budget ~4.3 M USD.

Up to 300,000 USD direct costs per year; project period up to 3 years.

No clinical trials allowed.

Funds may cover technology development, validation experiments, performance measure assessments, and related personnel, supplies, and core costs; must follow NIH cost principles .
