Environmental Exposure

Understanding the Effects of Environmental Exposure on Paediatric, Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Risk

This Research & Innovation Action under Horizon Europe will fund data-intensive epidemiological studies that elucidate how environmental exposures—alone and in combination with genetic, epigenetic, omics, socio-economic and lifestyle factors—influence cancer onset, progression and outcomes in individuals diagnosed before age 40. Projects should leverage existing cohorts, exposome networks and digital tools, develop robust biomarkers of cumulative exposure, and ensure interoperability with the future UNCAN.eu platform.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Consortia of at least three independent legal entities from Horizon Europe Member States or Associated Countries
  • Multi-disciplinary teams (epidemiologists, clinicians, data scientists, toxicologists, etc.) capable of pooling and analysing large, multimodal datasets
  • Access to, or plans to create, retrospective and/or prospective paediatric/adolescent/young adult cohorts with environmental, clinical and omics data
  • Commitment to metadata registration in the European Health Data Space catalogue and open-science tool sharing via UNCAN.eu
