
CRUK Advanced Clinician Scientist Fellowship
The Advanced Clinician Scientist Fellowship provides up to five years of support (typically £1.5 million) for consultant‐level clinical academics to establish independent leadership in cancer research (excluding interventional trials and drug discovery).
Eligibility Criteria:

Professional Status:
-
Hold CCT and consultant status.
-
No tenured academic post at a higher-education or research institute.

Academic Qualifications:

MD or PhD in a cancer-relevant research area.

Research Experience:
-
Significant postdoctoral research track record.

Demonstrate “establishing independence” competencies per CRUK’s Fellowship Competency Framework.

Host Institution:
-
Based at a UK university or research institute for the fellowship duration.

Funding Details:

Duration: 5 years
-
Quantum: Typically up to £1.5 million total, covering:

Your salary at honorary consultant grade.

Salaries & running expenses for up to two posts (postdoc, technician and/or non-clinical PhD student).

Associated running costs (consumables, travel, publication charges).

Equipment up to £25 000.

Relocation up to £1 000.
