CRUK Advanced Clinician Scientist Fellowship

The Advanced Clinician Scientist Fellowship provides up to five years of support (typically £1.5 million) for consultant‐level clinical academics to establish independent leadership in cancer research (excluding interventional trials and drug discovery).

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Professional Status:

    • Hold CCT and consultant status.

    • No tenured academic post at a higher-education or research institute.

  • Academic Qualifications:

    • MD or PhD in a cancer-relevant research area.

  • Research Experience:

    • Significant postdoctoral research track record.

    • Demonstrate “establishing independence” competencies per CRUK’s Fellowship Competency Framework.

  • Host Institution:

    • Based at a UK university or research institute for the fellowship duration.

Funding Details:

  • Duration: 5 years

  • Quantum: Typically up to £1.5 million total, covering:

    • Your salary at honorary consultant grade.

    • Salaries & running expenses for up to two posts (postdoc, technician and/or non-clinical PhD student).

    • Associated running costs (consumables, travel, publication charges).

    • Equipment up to £25 000.

    • Relocation up to £1 000.

  • Additional Benefits:
