
Springboard Awards
The Academy of Medical Sciences–Wellcome Springboard Awards provide up to £125,000 over two years to basic biomedical scientists within five years of their first independent post—supporting research expenses, equipment, assistance, and travel as they establish their independent careers.
Eligibility Criteria:

Within 5 years of appointment to a first independent academic post (e.g., Lecturer) at a UK higher education institution (see eligible list).

Current post provides a salary—applicants may not request personal salary support.

Must not hold significant existing research funding.

Host organisation support required.

Practising clinicians are not eligible (consider the Starter Grant for Clinical Lecturers instead).
Funding Details:

Amount: Up to £125,000 total costs

Duration: 2 years
-
Use of Funds: Research consumables; small equipment; research assistant support; travel for meetings and collaborations; mentoring and career development provided by the Academy.

Exclusions: Personal salary costs; overheads.
