
DoD FY25 Peer Reviewed Cancer Research Program Impact Award
Supports mature, translational cancer research projects with strong preliminary data that have the potential for a near-term impact on clinical care within one of the congressionally directed FY25 PRCRP topic areas and military health focus areas.
Eligibility Criteria:

Applicant Organizations: Extramural and intramural U.S. or foreign academic institutions, biotechnology companies, foundations, DOD laboratories, and other public or private entities (for-profit and non-profit).

Principal Investigator: Independent investigator at or above the level of Assistant Professor (or equivalent). Industry “independent scientists” may qualify if analogous. No citizenship restrictions.

Research Scope: Projects must include preliminary data, address one FY25 PRCRP topic area and one FY25 PRCRP strategic goal, and demonstrate relevance to military health. Clinical trials are permitted.

Partnering PI Option: Two PIs (Initiating and Partnering) may apply jointly; combined budget cap applies.
Funding Details:

Total Funds Available: ≈ $28 million for ~20 single-PI awards and ≈ $17.5 million for ~10 partnering-PI awards.

Budget Caps:

Single PI: up to $1.4 million total costs over a maximum 3-year period

Partnering PI: combined total costs up to $1.75 million over up to 3 years

Period of Performance: Awards made by September 30, 2026; FY25 funds expire September 30, 2031.

Allowable Costs: Direct and indirect costs (per negotiated rates), including personnel, supplies, equipment, travel (presentation and collaboration), and clinical trial expenses where applicable.
