
DoD FY25 Ovarian Cancer Clinical Trial Academy – Early-Career Investigator Award
Supports early-career clinical trialists in ovarian cancer through 4 years of funding, intensive mentoring, leadership development, and networking within the OCCTA to design and execute small-scale, translational clinical trials that address critical gaps in ovarian cancer treatment and survivorship .
Eligibility Criteria:

Applicant Organization: Extramural or intramural U.S. or foreign academic institutions, biotechnology companies, foundations, DOD laboratories, and other public or private entities (for-profit or non-profit) .

Principal Investigator (ECI): Within 12 years of most recent postdoctoral or clinical fellowship at full application deadline; must commit ≥25% effort to the award and OCCTA activities for the first 2 years. Current postdocs/fellows are not eligible.

Designated Mentor: Established clinical trialist with active ovarian cancer trial and strong mentorship record; must devote ≥5% effort to OCCTA mentoring; cannot be current OCCTA Dean/Assistant Dean .

Other Mentor (if needed): Independent ovarian cancer clinical researcher at same institution as ECI, to supplement mentorship.

Human Subjects: Supports translational research and early-phase clinical trials (small-scale, phase 1/2 or phase 2); interventional trials must include IRB/IND or IDE documentation; observational clinical research is exempt.

Consumer Advocates: Encouraged to involve ovarian cancer survivors as advocates in study design, oversight, and dissemination.
Funding Details:

Total Cost Cap: $1.4 million total costs (direct + indirect) over up to 4 years

Use of Funds: Personnel (including mentor support), travel for annual OCCTA workshop and one scientific meeting per year, supplies, equipment, conferencing tools, data management; indirect costs per negotiated rates. No tuition or trial initiation costs. .
