
DoD FY25 Prostate Cancer Research Program Idea Development Award
Supports innovative, high‐risk/high‐reward research ideas in prostate cancer that address one or more FY25 PCRP Overarching Challenges. Two application categories—Established Investigator and New Investigator—foster novel approaches with or without preliminary data.
Eligibility Criteria:

Applicant Organizations: Extramural and intramural entities (academic institutions, biotech companies, foundations, DOD labs, etc.), for-profit and non-profit, U.S. or foreign .

Principal Investigator:

Established Investigator: Independent investigator at any faculty rank by award activation.

New Investigator: Within 10 years of terminal degree completion, freedom to pursue independent research goals without formal mentorship, and must identify a collaborator experienced in prostate cancer research .

Human Subjects: Observational clinical research permitted; interventional clinical trials excluded.

Cost Sharing: Not required.
Funding Details:

Total Available: ~30.5 M USD across both categories

Established Investigator: 22.1 M USD to fund ~13 awards, up to 1.7 M USD total costs over 3 years .

New Investigator: 8.4 M USD to fund ~4 awards, up to 2.1 M USD total costs over 4 years .

Allowable Costs: Direct and indirect costs per negotiated rates; personnel, supplies, equipment, limited travel; no clinical trial costs.

Award Activation: No later than September 30, 2026; funds expire September 30, 2031.
