ASH: Clinical Research Training Institute in Latin America (CRTI)

The CRTI in Latin America is an intensive, two-day in-person workshop that helps early- to mid-career hematology professionals in Latin America develop foundational skills in clinical research. The program includes didactic lectures, small group peer-review sessions, one-on-one mentoring, and proposal development. It is designed to strengthen participants’ capabilities to lead patient-oriented research in hematology and encourages long-term academic growth and collaboration.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must:

Be a clinician (physician, nurse, psychologist, etc.) with a clinical practice in classical or malignant hematology
Be a fellow or faculty member within 15 years of their first faculty appointment
Be fluent in English (spoken and written)
Live and work in one of the following Latin American countries:

Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela
Not be a previous recipient of CRTI-LA

Full travel and accommodation costs covered by ASH

Two-day in-person workshop
Next workshop: May 5–6, 2026, in Bogotá, Colombia (following the Highlights of ASH in Latin America)

Research Proposal (2 pages) and References (1 page)

Ethics in research and conflict of interest
Literature search and bibliographic tools
Mentoring, collaboration, abstract/manuscript writing

Terms and Conditions:

Participants must:

Be employed in Latin America during the program duration
Attend all sessions and submit a PowerPoint presentation of their proposal
Complete all paperwork including COI and confidentiality agreements
Cite ASH support in resulting publications
Respond to ASH follow-up requests on career progression
