
Cancer Council WA PhD Top-Up Scholarships
The Cancer Council WA PhD Top-Up Scholarships are designed to support exceptional PhD students pursuing cancer-related research. These scholarships provide financial top-up assistance for students who already hold a primary postgraduate research award and are undertaking full-time doctoral studies in Western Australia.
Eligibility Criteria:
• Must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or a permanent resident of Australia
• Must be enrolled in a PhD program at the time the top-up starts
• Must hold at least upper second-class Honours or a medical degree
• Must be or become a full-time PhD student in an approved WA institution
• Must hold or have applied for a competitive three-year postgraduate scholarship (e.g. RTP)
• At least 75% of research must be conducted in or through WA institutions or hospitals
• Ineligible if total stipend (including this top-up) exceeds AUD 48,000 per annum
Funding Details:
• Up to AUD 48,000
• Funding duration: up to 4 years
• Award supports additional research costs or living expenses on top of an existing scholarship
Deadline:
• Applications open: 5–7 March 2025
• Application deadline: 30 September 2025
• Notification of results: November 2025
