
ERC for Non-European Researchers
The ERC for Non-European Researchers offers a powerful opportunity for global talent to lead frontier research at institutions in the EU or Horizon Europe-associated countries. The European Research Council (ERC) funds top-tier investigators of any nationality who propose pioneering projects in any field, including life sciences, social sciences, and interdisciplinary research. Its grants are internationally recognized for their prestige and support of scientific excellence.
Eligibility Criteria:

Open to researchers of any nationality and age

Must carry out the research in an EU Member State or Associated Country
-
Host institution must be established in an EU or associated country
-
Researchers relocating to Europe can apply for enhanced funding
-
Applicants must dedicate a minimum of:

50% of their time to the ERC project for Starting Grants
-
40% for Consolidator Grants
-
30% for Advanced Grants
-
And must spend at least 50% of total working time within the EU or associated country

In Synergy Grants, one PI may be hosted full-time outside the EU or associated countries
Funding Details:

Up to 2.5 million EUR for Starting Grants (vs. 1.5 million EUR for Europe-based applicants)

Up to 3 million EUR for Consolidator Grants (vs. 2 million EUR)

Up to 3.5 million EUR for Advanced Grants (vs. 2.5 million EUR)
-
Additional top-up funding supports relocation costs, major equipment, and large-scale work
-
ERC grants cover 100% of eligible direct costs plus 25% toward indirect costs
