Cancer Research Trust NZ: Professional Development Awards

The Professional Development Awards from the Cancer Research Trust New Zealand provide up to NZD 3,000 to support cancer researchers, clinicians, and allied health professionals in attending international conferences, advanced training programs, and clinical/lab site visits. The goal is to build capacity within New Zealand’s cancer research and care workforce, promote skill development, and enhance professional growth across the cancer continuum.

Eligibility Criteria:

Open to New Zealand-based cancer professionals, including researchers, clinicians, nurses, technologists, radiotherapists, and other allied health staff
Applicants must be directly involved in cancer research, treatment, or support services
Applications must be submitted in advance of the event (retrospective funding is not allowed)
Abstracts or invitation letters are required for conferences, courses, or lab visits
All proposals must demonstrate contribution to Māori health advancement
Applicants may submit one application as PI and be named on one other per round

Funding Details:

Maximum funding: NZD $3,000 per award
Covers costs such as travel, accommodation, registration, and related expenses for approved events
Excludes: university degree tuition fees, post-graduate course fees, and conference attendance without professional development relevance
Two competitive funding rounds annually: March and September
