Cancer Grand Challenge: The Dark Proteome
This challenge invites global research teams to uncover the origins, functions, and therapeutic potential of the “dark proteome”—a group of proteins not derived from known coding sequences or DNA mutations. By understanding these unconventional proteins, the challenge aims to reveal new cancer vulnerabilities and develop immunologic or small molecule therapies that can be applied broadly across tumour types.
Eligibility Criteria:
-
Global, interdisciplinary research teams
-
Expertise in proteomics, immunology, RNA/protein biology, oncology, genetics, and analytical chemistry
-
Proposals must focus on proteins, not non-coding RNAs or splicing alterations
Funding Details:
-
Up to £20 million (USD 25 million) per team
-
Duration: Not specified
Deadline:
-
Expressions of Interest due: 18 June 2025
